In her directorial debut with Houston's Opera in the Heights, Susan Stone Li leads a production described by the Houston Press as "set in fairyland, with tree limbs encasing the proscenium and vines threading up the stone staircase. Nature runs wild in this view, which is a valid enough take on Verdi's revenge story as any other these days."
The Houston Chronicle added, "Director Susan Stone Li squeezed the action into the small space by taking advantage of the whole theater, sometimes having performers enter from the lobby. The bare-bones set established only the basics of the locales. But when the performers brought the music to life, this 'Rigoletto' had all that it needed."
Susan makes her debut with Opera in the Heights for their 2014/15 season opening production of Rigoletto. Performances take place September 26 & 27; October 2, 3, & 4 at 7:30pm, and September 28 & October 5 at 2:00pm.
